Charity Boat Raffle

Congratulations to the winner of this year's charity boat raffle.  Thanks to everyone's generous support, we will be able to support more charities during this year's difficult economic conditions.

The 2009 edition of the Head of the Connecticut Regatta continued the improvements we have offered since our major overhaul in 2007, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!  We look forward to joining you in Middletown, Connecticut on Sunday, October 10, 2010.  Continuing a racing tradition which began on the Connecticut River in October 1973, we are proud to continue our annual improvements and to host this historic event and to present our expanded waterfront with a restoration of Lions Landing adjacent to Harbor Park.  Coaches and competitors alike enjoyed the many major changes introduced in 2007 and refinements in 2008, including our new race course with an exciting finish at Middletown's Harbor Park.  Organized by our new race organizing committee and operational team, we are proud of our many improvements, including:

  • Our new downstream race course

  • Faster and more efficient docks

  • New facilities at Harbor Park, including On-Site Registration and improved parking

  • New, all-electronic timing systems with instant ("live") results available

  • 100% Online registration and waiver process

  • Free Mixed Eights fun event!

The Head of the Connecticut Regatta is an annual event sponsored by the City of Middletown and presented by the Middletown Lions Club in conjunction with the Norwalk River Rowing Association.

In addition to showcasing Middletown’s waterfront, all net proceeds from the Regatta are donated to local, national, and international charitable organizations including: Nutmeg Big Brothers-Big Sisters, the FIDELCO Guide Dog Foundation, the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation, the Lions Charities International Foundation. The annual event was first held on the Connecticut River in Middletown, CT in October, 1974 and its return in 2007 showcased many changes to present the finest HCTR in many years. The new HCTR leadership team looks forward to seeing everyone again for competition this fall.
